About me and counselling:
I earned my MSc in Psychology in 2012, but instead of pursuing a career in research, I chose to focus on what I enjoyed most—working with people. This passion led me to obtain a diploma in psychodynamic counselling. I began my career working for charities offering low cost counselling and today, I balance private practice with charity work. I feel truly privileged to be entrusted with people’s stories and to play a role in their healing journey.
Psychodynamic Counselling
Psychodynamic counselling, rooted in the work of Sigmund Freud, focuses on how unconscious thoughts, feelings, and past experiences shape current behaviour and relationships. Its goal is to bring awareness to unresolved emotional issues, often stemming from early life, that may be hidden beneath conscious awareness.
The counselling process creates a safe, empathic space for clients to explore their feelings and identify recurring patterns in their lives. By examining past relationships, events, and emotions, clients gain insight into how their past influences their present challenges. Uncovering and processing these unconscious influences leads to emotional healing, greater self-awareness, and personal growth. Ultimately, psychodynamic counselling helps individuals understand themselves more clearly, resolve inner conflicts, and develop healthier coping strategies.
Counselling with me:
Although my training is rooted in psychodynamic practice, I believe that as the client, you should be the one to decide what you wish to explore in therapy and when. I use my core training to help guide me, but I will always be led by the client and work with you to get what it is you want from counselling, empowering you to explore your thoughts and feelings.
